HELP!!

I have recently fitted a weber carb to a fiat tempra 1.6ie and am experiencing a problem of the carb overflowwing with petrol. does anyone know why this could be? I think possibly it might be the fuel pump pressure being to high as the car was an injection model. can anyone confirm this or shed any light on my problem ?

many thanks

Regarding the pressure - very likely.

Fuel pump on a carburetted system usually delivers a bit less than 1 bar

SPI is also around 1 bar.
MPI is 2.5 to 3 bar.

Most modern injection is multipoint, so I would imagine your float chamber valve is wondering what's hit it [:0]

Also, why [?]

you might have a return line with a bad check valve. then if the gas tank is not ventilated and the temp goes up the gas would expand into the carb.

the fuel punp shouldnt make it overflow because the float would keep the gas from entering. on the return there wouldnt be a valve in the carb.

the higher pressure from the injection pump can overcome the float in the carb. There are a few answers if you decide this is your problem
1 change the pump
2 fit a fuel pressure regulator

What way are you working the spark are you still running that from the ecu or have you converted to electrionic ignition or a digiplex
