right decided to fit astra gte bonnet vents to the custard cinq.now these look like they fit quite nicely and even have little gutters to channel water of the vent in the engine bay.

anyway never having had to fit bonnet vents before whats the best method?
drill some holes and then cut it out with the jigsaw?
then mount it and bond with fibreglass or a silicone based sealer?thinking about how srong it would be for things such as using the brush on the jetwash.

cheers :)

fibreglass mate dont use silicone stuff it gets all over ur paintwork and ****s it totally up. uve got the right picture just dont make the holes in the bonnets too big for the vents :E

yeah must admit the thought of cutting holes in the bonnet is a little daunting. measure 10 times cut once lol :D

Or if you're me, measure 20 times, cut once, file for a week ;)

get a scrap bonnet. your gonna need to respray it when the vent is on anyway so might as well get any old bonnet from a scrappy (not dented though) and attatch it all to that.. then spray it. that way, atleast youve still got the original :)

only problem is the only car i have access to is the cinq and the bonnet wont fit in the cinq :( might have a look around for one i can get posted.
do you think i can sell my original for a premium since it has a van aaken logo ;)

th do fit! ive done it before :p

put it in sideways, front end goes up over the front seats and then other end goes right down into the back of the boot (obviously put the seats down).

it then fits perfect and doesnt hit you in the head neither as its slides down a little.

trust me, it will fit!

you can even get a bootlid in too! and a WHOLE sei interior without even taking the original interior out hehe

witch astra gte vents u dont need to use fibre glass they just bolt on but make sue there lined up or there will be gaps the best ones to fit is the gsi ones there well easy or escort rst ones they just bolt in cut and bolt in

tis this style.

wanted a smoother understated style versus the later gsi vents.
ive got a 'pukka' dremel so could use that for the vents.

the gte vents are originaly held on with plastic pegs that go through the bonnet and are held on with star type clips.
just wondering if that would be a lot of work to do as opposed to a straight gut and 'glass

yeah but thats on an OEM bonnet.looks like the pins would need to be housed in a dog leg mounting point. not so easy to do by hand.
one of those things where i wont really know till i start fitting.
with stuff like this i usually try a trial fitting on thick card to get an idea of whats required on the cutting dept
