Punto (Mk1) FIRST CAR, 17, need help guys!

Hey , i'm new to this site so please be nice :D

Im turnign 17 is about 2 weeks and have seen the FIAT PUNTO!

It looks like a small sweet car with good insurance, but i'm a lad and i want more. I'v been savign and have about 1K now so thought about modifying its exterior and interior (not much the engine as this is just for appearance for now) ...

Guys and Gals i need ideas!! i want a paint job and for it to look awesome but have no clue... im a pretty open guy, love weird and wacky colours...

i like the tinted windows and lowered suspension but want your thoughts..

Any tips and tricks on how to make it awesome inside and out would be sooo helpful!! as i said im a newbie looking for some advice!!
thanks!! Louis, :):):):):)
Less is more, i would detail it,sort out any dings and dents, you could remove badges or replace them with the newer ones.
Get some nice alloys on, that would change the appearance straight away, then at a later date you can put the alloys on another car.
I'm 50 years old and no what it means to have your first car and wanting it to look the part, but just enjoy it first, as you get to live with it you will know when its time for the next modification.
All the best, and put some pictures up!(y)

It's a stripe!? How on earth would that make a difference?

You **** someone off locally on the road your stripe is going to make your car stand out a lot more when they see it parked up and decide they want to key your car or pour brake fluid on it as payback and you then want to claim for criminal damage.

Insurance is all about rating your risk, some companies have date to prove you're more likely to claim and as a result charge more, or on the contrary may see you're less likely to claim and charge less.

It is their decision on what to charge premium wise based upon utmost good faith of you declaring the full risk you pose to them. Having a policy cancelled for none disclosure WILL affect you for life - next time you get a quote (for ANY type of insurance) listen for the question asking if you've ever had a insurance policy cancelled or refused.

Really isn't worth the agro to save £15-£20. If you can't afford to declare a mod then don't modify it, it really is that simple.

Your making a mountain out of a grain of sand M E P, although you mean well...........but come on, don't be a party pooper.
I've got strips as well, and love'em, and i did contact my insurance and they were not bothered.

Exactly, but your insurer won't have the same criteria as another. I'm not being a party pooper, I'm simply stating fact and how it is. People can take it or leave it, I'm not the one who's going to have a policy cancelled for none disclosure, and nether are you as you've done as most do and declared your mods (y)

MEP`s right on this one. I brought my old punto that was fully modified, I think only the seats and carpet were stock. The guy I brought it from was selling it as his daughter had hit a range rover and the insurance company wouldnt pay out because she hadnt declared the gear nob. All the other mods had been but they cancelled her policy, she ended up paying for the repairs to the range rover and was also prosicuted for no insurance. Insurance companies will get out of a payment if they can.
If you want to change anything tell them. You might be supprised as when I declared my towbar the price didnt increase but they did include an extra cover for the trailer and contents up to £200.

Louis, would have to agree with most

I started off with a mk1 Punto and straight away put a stupid fart can and massive bodykit lol
Then realised how sad it was.

Body color bumper are the.only mod and some oem Fiat wheels(marea, stilo, tipo wheels look good)
Then lower it 30mm. Engine wise would leave it, the 1.2 8v ans 16v engine are sweet and bullitproof if cared for.

Just enjoy the pleasures of driving a lovely fiat , save money, wait till it 22 then get a coupe 20vt :D

My advice would be to get as much of it running sweet as you can first, do simple things to get it running perfect. Replace parts that often have faults. You'll be more upset if it breaks down then if it doesn't look how you want it to.

You will be even more upset when its looking sweet and sat on the driveway broken and you cant afford to repair it because youve spent all youre money on making it look sweet.
