finally!!!

yesssssssssss car fixed!!!

as for the re-fitting front bumper, anyone who does it i suggest you do it this way...

behind the grille are two bolt/screws that hold the bumper in place, put these back into postion FIRST as the then pull the sides away from the car and allow you to easily slide the bumper onto the bolts at either side (y)

took ages to figure that out..... isnt my mummy clever :p hehe

Re: finally!!!

Ah sorry, should've suggested that myself 'cause that's exactly what I did :)

Yeah as a general rule it's always easier to 'hang' something in place by putting in the top fixings first, e.g. for fitting a door.

Actually I had the square stainless steel threaded parts fitted into the bumper each side, then I put in the two front screws, and had a wonderful time trying to get the 13mm-head bolts to get through those supports and into the threaded parts, all the while with the wheelarch liner trying to cut my hand in half! So it would be better to fit the bolts & nuts to the car first, loosely, and then slide the bumper on.

Some Unos have square mild-steel 'bolts' (with thread protruding) which a 10mm nut fits onto. These are much worse because the threads rust and the nut seizes on, even in our non-salted climate (so it must be impossible in England). Perhaps that is why other Unos have the stainless-steel variety with the bigger bolts.

Don't forget to exert huge effort on pushing the bumper 'up' as far as possible as you do up the bolts, you want the gaps as small as you can... and then spend another half-hour scrabbling around under the front to get those three fixings in place... I hope you spent at least three hours repainting the bumper too ;)
