Technical Fibres from exhaust pipe

Got this stuff out the exhaust pipe earlier today. Is this likely to be from the cat. or one of the silencers?

The black fibrous material is more likely to come from one of the silencers. The catalytic converter contains ceramic block.

Hi,
What Davren said. There is also a piece of the perforated pipe that runs down the inside of the silencer visible in your picture. The pipe has rusted or cracked and released that bit and some of the fibres. As long as it's not too noisy you should be OK.

Aye that all makes perfect sense. I've thought recently that she was a wee bit noisier in the exhaust side but nothing major, but couldn't see anything obvious.
