Hi everyone,
My 2015 Pop trunk latch has broken, I replaced it twice, but now it won’t work at all. I’ve had two mechanics try to find the source and they have both said it’s like the wires have been chewed through and cannot fix it.

My question is: could the whole latch be changed into a manual latch with a key slot?

Or add a string from the inside to pull it open?

Any help is appreciated, at the moment, I just leave it propped open with a flathead in the latch.

Hi,
Most likely the wires in the rubber boot between body and hatch are the problem.
All the damaged wires should be cut out and replaced (repair kits are available over here in europe) may be try rockauto in USA.
If the damaged wires are not replaced they can short circuit and cause many other problems with the car not just in tail gate.
Regards
J
