First i would like to start with saying thank god there is a dedicated forum, my mechanic friends never want to touch my fiat 
I was driving up my local high street the other day, I was just about to reverse into a space when my gear stick decided to explode ( the gear knob flew off, a spring hit me inthe head and the cover surrounding the base of thegear stick became loose) After a frantic couple of minutes with cars beeping me i managed to sort of reassemble my gear stick so I could select a gear.
The problem i have is now when i try to select gears the gear stick has dropped down so gears 1,2,3,4,5,6 and reverse seem to be in the same selector...instead of pulling up for reverse....
any ideas if I need a new gear stick or is there a diagram of how it should be installed so i can either attempt a repair or replace the gear stick completely
