Hi,

As Andy says, its really not advisable to pull out the damage in the way you suggest (although possible).

There are no "external" air bag sensors (unless you have side air bags), as the two sensors are built into the airbag ECU and measure the lateral deceleration of the car.

With regaurds to the MOT.... really we need to see some pictures of the damage?
As long as its not effected your headlight alignment, damaged your numberplate or lighting or left any sharp/ dangerous edges exposed, then there should be no reason for it to fail.

However as i say we would need to see pictures really.

Hi,
if this is late model sporting it has side impact sensors
the rest is just done off the ecu,,no sensors as such on front end,

Disconect battery for atleast 20 mins or more and leave battery off
if you are giving this punto a stretch,

you are best off with a hand winch type set up rather than doing this under the cars own power.. cluctch plate will burn off see. :D

dont stretch it too much or you will need a welder., (y)

if your local to manchester, ive got specialist tools for straightning cars, ;)

hi there thanks for your help and offer but its off the road at the minute but thats mine is a y reg 2001 sporting

if your xmember is back then its highly likely the bolts holding the slam on it are protruding into the radiator and once moved radiator might well leak
next problem
if xmember back then it takes the slam back with it thus pulling it down, this in turn distorts the bonnet so when xmember in right place and youve pulled slam down the bonnet wont now fit
has it broken headlight brackets?
i would be very surprised if a rope round a tree would pull a xmember out on a punto

iwouid remove Radiator, and the support bar,

get some old seat belts, find some one with old van or clamp'd out motor
to give it a stretch, pull it bit at a time until bonnet close's.

as s & B say's you might have probs with bonnet closing properly.

radiator support is only tacky flimsy metal so often get all bent and twisted when theyve had a front end' accident,

for safety.. id remove battery lead for 20 mins or so and unplug conector from ecu..so its disabled, you might need to invest in cables and plug in M.E.S later's on.
