Technical Fiat Palio Sport 1.6 Initial Pickup

Hello everyone,
I own a Fiat Palio 1.6L 2007 model, recently i drove in rain water where in engine switched off suddenly and after few tries, it got started but later engine isn't giving initial pickup which it used to give earlier and I can hear a some bud bud noise from it, but when car picks up speed around 60 it goes smoothly, any idea what could be the possible reason for this issue? If anyone knows about this? Pls do comment thanks

Need to define "i drove in rain water" , do you mean deep water that could have been sucked into engine ?
This can cause serious damage.
Does the car start easily and idle normally, if uneven and on low power then doesn't sound good.

Rain water was about 1ft, I saw water presence in only air filter, not after that. I also replaced air filter with new one. Car starts normally, idling and power is even, only issue is it's initial power pick up is missing, as speed picks up power comes but first 1-2 gear shift to 0-40kmph pickup is missing it takes too long comparatively.

If you are happy car is mechanically sound then maybe the MAF sensor in the air cleaner got damaged?
Any Error codes?

No error codes, i haven't checked maf sensor - so if you could guide me to how to find and check / clean, that would be great!!!

MAF Sensor is normally situated after the air filter on route to the engine.
Model specific advice should be available on line, hopefully a spray with a good quality electrical switch cleaner will help, but don't use anything that can damage he sensor.

After cleaning MAF, the problem remains. Engine starts pretty well but after shifting the gear the initial power is missing.. any idea how to diagnose this ?

It's difficult without being there as so many issues can affect engine performance.
Any chance a HT shorting at coil/s leads or distributor etc.?
