Got a engine warning light a while ago. Multiecuscan software says it's the Particulate matter sensor at fault. (Pa24 AE) I did have Fiat check it too and they said Nox sensor. Is that a different name for the same thing?

Also, there seems to be a big variation in price for replacements of for Nox sensors from £50 (ebay) to £350 (fiat) and lots in between.

Any experiences and advice on this issue?

P24AE Particulate Matter (soot) sensor

Is the title of reg65 thread detailing your fault code

Yes - I had the same thing on my Dec 2020 manufactured Ducato 140
I read on another forum that it was the subject of a recall
But since it was still under warranty I took it back to the Fiat Professional dealer I bought it from - and they said it was not the subject of a recall but it was a known issue. So much so they had sensors in stock. The sensor is underneath on the exhaust pipe so access is not too bad. They did it while I waited - about an hour.

And Nox is definitely not the same as soot sensor/ totally different

I had a particulate matter sensor replaced under warranty when my Ducato was 2.5 years old despite the fact I serviced it myself - I just pointed out it was not part of the service schedule so it made no difference whether it had been serviced or not.
Important whether its a van or a motorhome because van warranty is longer
Was 2 years for motorhomes and 3 years for vans, but I think they have increased it for vans?
As I understand it Fiat Dealers don't like warranty jobs because the hourly rate is less than they charge retail customers and they have the bother of claiming it from Fiat.
So be prepared to be fobbed off, and be pleasant but persistent. Fiat Motor-home dealer wouldn't touch it because its a van despite having advertised servicing for Fiat Vans. The only one who would touch mine was the Fiat Professional Dealer I bought it from and they asked if there wasn't a Fiat Dealer nearer to me. I replied you didn't ask that when I wanted to buy a new van!
Eventually had it done free under warranty and its ok now - but I had to wait a fortnight for an appointment for a half hour job.

A question when is a particle sensor a NOx sensor

I withdraw the above as it appears fiat also call Nox sensor "particulate sensor "

I don't know where the "soot" description came from.

Apologies

I have mentioned on Forum before on another thread that when speaking to a retired Fiat motor home mechanic the DPF pressure sensor was a very common failure/fault on Ducato MHs.

Yes it was on the X250 when it was mounted low down with a low DPF. The position was moved upto the firewall above the DPF on the x290 euro 6 with fewer failures. I think it stayed there for the 2.3 adblu but for the 2.2s no idea but the DPF is now low down again.

Yes I think you are right but I can't confirm it because I wasn't allowed in the workshop so didn't see what they did.
I had been driving it like that for over a year (at least 10,000 miles) because I wrongly attributed the engine management light and 'start stop inoperative' message to my adding secondary batteries. Then with the first MOT looming and the engine management light on I had to do something about it. When they changed the sensor everything worked fine. Which suggests this is not an urgent job. So I wouldn't worry about keeping driving it till you get it fixed.

This is my worry about getting this fixed. it seems to be called so many different things and come at such a range of prices. How do I know which part I should be buying for my particular fault?

e.g.

That's an easy question.

Ring shop4parts with your vehicle details and ask for a price for the part, remember forum member who have donated get a nice discount.

The part name is nox sensor or gas particle nox sensor

If shop4parts can't help with this (I would be surprised) ring coastal motor homes with your details to make sure part number in your post, 6000633295 , is correct and buy it from them- they are very good .

Unfortunately on this site the photo of the part does not match the part number.
The part number is for a temp sensor not a nox sensor like the photo.

Not digging at poster just adding In case anyone tries to use that part number for a Nox sensor.
Cheers J
Which is the incorrect part?
