Technical fiat ducato 2006 2.8 JTD engine replacement

My Aussie winnebago Engine needs replacing. Mechanic finding difficult to locate a replacement

Any ideas? Getting a replacement from overseas? Another make/model which can be used? Iveco?? isuzu,
Conversion kits?

According to the article linked to below, the 2.8 JTD was only used in the Ducato and Iveco Massif.

I find it intriguing that a 2.3 JTD engine was an option for the x244 Ducato. This engine in Multijet fom offers similar performance to the 2.8 JTD. However fitting this engine would not be simple, as it would require a matching ECU, engine mountings and engine wiring harness, as a minimum. Also the engine wiring harness may not connect simply to the existing vehicle wiring.


Not an engine change but a project.

Is it possible to have the engine rebuilt?

What do you have? Manual or automatic?

I am currently working on my gearbox but is going very slow with covid19, parts availability etc also.
I have a very good 2.8 jtd engine...sidelined just now....
