When travelling on open road after 25 min engine light comes on and temp gauge fall flat. If stop for awhile and restart all back to normal. When driving around town all day there is no problem??

Replaced engine temperature sensor and flushed radiator, will see if this make any difference. Thought it could be the fan causing an issue when it kicks on however i have eliminated this

Craig, where is the temp sensor ?? I have code P0116, which i think is the temp sensor fault code, but looking at the engine cant see it.
When looking into engine bay is it on righthand side of engine block, does thermo housing have 3/4 pipes coming from it ?
Is it in there somewhere ??
Thanx Dave

Ehhh also if the temp sensor is faulty then does that mean ur temp gauge doesnt work and shows cold all the time ??
Likewise that radiator wont come on ?
Ive erased the code and it not appeared again, likewise gsuge is working, so im not sure if fault has gone ?? Time will tell ?
