I was having a look for the nearest fiat dealer, for some reason the fiat official site only lists Arnold Clark. There is a Parks fiat close to me, but now wondering if they are not an official retailer for parts.

The official dealers across scotland is surprisingly sparse, have Arnold Clark hacked the fiat website?

For timing belt kits, certain gaskets and so on, I tend to buy from the dealer since they are jobs you dont want to fit dodgy copy parts on. And to be honest, Parks parts counter close to me is run by total imbeclies with zero knowledge of cars or parts - makes for a very stressful time asking for parts that the manufacturer has called a slightly different name.

I guess no one goes to fiat dealers then

If I have to go to the dealer for something I always do the legwork and look up the part number on EPer first. As you say, their parts catalogues don’t always use common terminology for parts so if you’re dealing with the front desk it’s simpler to just quote part numbers.
For larger items I’d buy online, from shop4parts and the like
