This wouldnt cause the hazards to come on. I have ran my battery flat before.

Did the car actually start to run. Sounds like an imobiliser issue. hence it cuts off fuel and puts flashers on. This can be triggered by a low battery.

When you turn over the engine. Is it fast?

When you left to pay did you lock car with plipper?

I turn the key half way, the car powers up - battety light comes, but when u turn the key fully, its cuts out.

when i slam the drivers side door, power is restored but i still have the same problem.

god sake i think i have a short somewhere

Possibly a loose wire on the ignition barrel, hence why the door slam vibration is causing power to return.
