Hey guys,

Just managed to strip the Starter solenoid thread which is awesome.

I have a spare. Can the Starter be installed without dropping the engine?

Cheers

Years since I worked on one, as an apprentice we had several customers with them and the Spanish Seat version of saloons and coupes so I don't see why not.
Cars in the old days were designed to be repaired, unlike modern vehicles.;)

The upper half of the rear panel i.e. the section between the tail lights that carries the licence plate , can be easily unbolted from inside the engine compartment iirc there's 2 x 13mm nuts each side and another couple on it's lower flange, not sure but there might also be a couple of wires to disconnect. - this will give much easier access for any engine work including removal/refitting of the starter motor.

Also, Iirc, the engine earth (ground) lead is connected to one of the studs that secures the starter motor, don't forget to re-attach this important lead.

Yes. To get the starter out it's best to remove the dynamo/ alternator. You will need a 13mm socket with long extension bars to remove the 3 x m8 nuts.

Obviously disconnect the battery first.
