Hi guys. I have a 2013 fiat 500 red power steering dash permanently on and only code in brain was u1702??? The car has a cheap nasty lion battery although seems to have no starting issues and drives fine just no power steering at all. Checked 70amp fuse. Looking at stripping out motor-ecu sending off to bba reman but gonna try a decent brand new battery before just incase as a top tech told me the battery has to be too top as the current draw from eps or won’t work? Any help ideas appreciated thanks

Forgot to mention guys the car has done 600 miles in a year. Lady I purchased from never used hence made me think battery not tip top?
Car is a 2013 lounge 41k from new.
Any ideas help appreciated. Thanks

Never known one to require an expensive repair yet

Try with a known good battery is a good first step

Some hints on things to check here. Panda and 500 share the same DNA

You will need connect a scanner to the steering module to read it code. Most scanners only connect to the engine module

U1702 could be a red herring. Comes up often but lots of different symptoms. Is it current or logged error
