This one's for you Stiloboy!

I filled up to the brim with Shell Optimax, £44, I then drove as normal for the next five days, I covered 289 miles until the fuel light started flashing and below is my returned MPG!

Honestly.........................

normal means normal, no frantic, Schumacher type stuff, just everyday commuting, popping down to the mall, etc!

Paul, this is actually quite good, if I tank it, it returns 18/19MPG!

Steve, you are obsessed with all that anal stuff, you are such a bummer!

Savi...

I am convinced there is something wrong with your car, how else could your consumption be that bad, whats the quoted combined? Around mid thirties?

When I drive normal I get more or less bang on what it says in the book, you dragging a trailer all week long or something :D

didnt someone else on the forum find out they had a fual leak from one of the pipes?
as thats really worrying mpg your getting TC. If our 1.6 was given a thrashy week it be at about 29 - 30, but normaly its sitting at 35. thats with 95 unleaded as well.
How many litres you fill the car up with?

oh, your stilo have AirCon? if it does, you use it for heating as well ?

No air con.

Never managed more than 29mpg, even tried an experiment for a week and never went over 3000rpm, 29 was the best I could do!

No fuel leak, had it checked.

It costs me a bomb in Optimax!

Re: Perhaps..........................

ecu reset maybe? vacume hoses (one came loose in an old tipo the perents had, its econ meter was stuck in the red all the time and it did eat the petrol) ?
blocked cat making the car run rich maybe?
im pulling at straws really since none of that should really effect a new car

Re: Steve............................

Optimax must be cheap where you live!

If i drive my car right into the red and the trip says i have no more miles to fill up (less than 25 miles) i brim it with 95Ron and it costs me £45!

That really doesn't sound healthy economy, you say your not raging it, but are you sure! For that economy you'd have been as well getting an Abarth!

It really does however make a difference if you do decent length drives, its good for the car and for your wallet! I've even got more miles on my Stilo that you now and i've only had mine since January.

Even with recently **** times in my life recently, which have meant more than the odd occasion totally raging it in my car i never get less than 41.9mpg and that really is spanking it, red lining it in 1st to 3rd gear, at which point your doing 85mph so i do usually calm down and either changing to 4th then 6th or just block shift right into 6th.
