hi all

I have a standard 1993 cinquecento. The fan heater fuse keeps blowing as soon as I turn the heater on. I replaced the 15a with a 25a and with that I can hear some electric whirring but still no air.

is this a common fault? any idea what could be causing it to short? I'm taking it to the garage but I thought I'd get some input first.

thanks
wes

This has happened to me, my local garage (non fiat) said i will need a new heater motor. These are expensive from fiat. I lso asked in fiat and they said the same, new heater motor. Mine still blows air in but there is a burning smell when its at speed 3 and takes a while to reach the highest speed too.
hope this helps.

p.s. (my local garage put a 30a fuse in!)

why dont you use a nail instead of a fuse?
jk, dont do that uless you want too set a fire behind you dash:D
both of you have it would seem knakared motors, its a moving part so they dont last forever but theres lots of early cinq's in the scrapyards now so grab one from there.
btw 30A is way too high, the burning smell is probly your wiring.

The burning was smelt before the fuse fist started to blow on mine so I knew it was going! Scrw is ending me his motor off his cinq for a nice fee! I asked fiat and they said just under £80 for the motor [:0][:(!]
I now drive without the fan on so its not a problem for the time being.
Fiat also said it was a sealed unit so i cant replace the motor, has to be the housing etc too.

contact Nibbo he is breaking his cinq up.

thanks for the replies all. Is changing the motor fan a big job? I just want to know how much work it involves so I don't get ripped off at the garage.

is it really :D
i so rarely get too work on cinqs these days, i forget all about the heaterbox under that felt.
