Well all i can say is that you really know it's winter when your battery packs up in the middle of a blizzard!

I've bought a new battery but i'm a bit reluctant to fit it because i don't have the radio code!

I've heard about these memory savers but someone has told me that they only run off an A.C. supply i.e. the mains supply in your home. That's not too practical for where my car is sitting. Anyone any suggestions??

If i do have to go to a dealer for the code, does anyone know how much they charge? I've heard they need to take your radio out first to get a serial number.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Someone jumped me!

You can , if you car enterprising enough make up a cigar lighter to cigar lighter car jump lead. (I saw one for sale in British Home stores for £10 purporting that you would never lead a jump lead again! FAT chance! Anyway, if you connect the two cigar lighters together then you have a means of keeping the electrics alive whilst you change batteries OR you could leave jump leads on the battery terminals whilst connected to another car whike you change batteries but the chances of knocking the leads off off are pretty high.

Most garages can recode radios these days but they'll need to take the radio out. Charge about £15 I think. Fiat main dealers can get the installed radio code by fax for about the same cost. Check if your radio code is armed in the first place (mine wasn't!)
Good luck
Brian

Thanks

Thanks Brian some good ideas in there. I'll take my chances to see if it's armed or not. If so £15 won'y kill me!
