Sorry, but have used the day surching for relevant info about this :-(

I have a 1.1 Sporting 1997.
Its all fine EXEPT the clutch is so heavy, that it takes an EPO fueld TDF-winner to press to the floor.
It was like that when i got it, and apparently had been like that for at least a year ("they are like that").
Until I tried another Sporting, I believed it :-(
The stearing and gearshift is smooth and there are no strange noises.
Its gone for apr. 188000km (117000 miles).
am I looking at a clutch replacement, something with the cable, something with the internal clutch mecanism or what is your experience ???

Regards

Clutch needs changed, Likely thrust bearing has worn through the fingers.

Would also probably change the fork bushes whilst the gearbox is off (or at very least grease them up, but they may be too far gone).

Hi
Best bet is to change it now before it causes any more damage.
I have found out to my cost that once they get heavy (presuming the cover springs are work hardening) you have to change the complete clutch or it takes out the master/slave cylinder on hydraulic systems or cable on our system.

As above change the clutch and Chuck a new cable on it for piece of mind. Should be pretty cheap. especially if you do it yourself

Thanks all.

Ok, the clutch and all around it is going to be changed, then.

Was just hoping, that it was something, as a well known as maybe a simple cable change.
