Technical Extra airbag in fiat ducato 2.3 JTD(2007)

Hi all,

I want to change my single passenger Seat to a double seater but therefore I need a extra airbag. There’s only one at the passenger side. Is it possible to get a extra airbag build in (in this model) and programmed? Anyone had any experiences with this?

Firstly you can't just add airbags to the system that's already installed.

Secondly just because there are 3 seats in the front, this does not mean there is an airbag for each person. Generally there is an airbag in the steering wheel and another in the dash on the passenger side, in vans this might be an extra big/wide airbag to catch both passenger seat occupants but there is no 3rd airbag for a 3rd person

Thirdly I would check to see if other vans that have the double seat even have the passenger airbag, it may be if the airbag is not suitable for two people then it is not installed when the van is build.

Fourthly make sure your removed passenger seat doesn't have a side impact airbag that would not be present in the bench seat.

Your Van will not support another airbag being installed or programmed in because there is no 3rd airbag option on any Ducato van

Are you sure the existing passenger airbag does not also deploy over the centre area?

Already the passengers' airbags are quite rare in Ducatos/Jumpers/Relays/Boxers, as they are mainly commercial vans. But it was an option on both two- and three- seaters for the x250.

There's no place to put an airbag in front of the middle seat.

In general the passenger's airbag is bigger than the driver's one. And inflates quicker

First and fourth photos are from the same van. It is very well equiped - leather steering wheel and gear knob, webasto parking heater, cruise control, radio controls on the steering wheel, just to mention the few visible factory fitted elements.
