Hey everyone , I'm trying to figure out why my exhaust system light is staying on. Need some help with this. have changed out the O2 sensor thinking that failed, but didn't fix.
Has someone run into this trouble before? If so what did you find and how did you figure it out?

Are you sure it is an "exhaust system light", it is not something I am familiar with, is to do with US Smog regulations?
Perhaps others on Forum will have knowledge of of it.
How is the vehicle running apart from that?
Have you been able to get any form of diagnostics on it, I appreciate quite an early vehicle?:)

Yes defiantly the exhaust system light. Last night I got into the service manual and found something interesting. Not sure if this is in mine but there is a service box (which is under the dash) that is suppose to turn on the exhaust system light every 30 K miles to remind you to change the O2 (Lambda) sensor or to do warranty service. Haven't gotten back to my garage to see if it's there. If so there is a reset button to push to start it timing again.
This reminds me of a Geo Tracker I had with the same system but used a slide switch. I'll keep you posted.

Probably find it's a dealer only service tool and the modern dealers have no idea.:(
Joking apart if it is that then at least you will know the cause.:)
