Hey,

Well i photoshopped my car as i had an idea about the exhaust. I want to upgrade my exhaust system and like this idea of a dual exhaust.

Has anyone done this and is it easy to do or cut a hole in the bumper etc?

Here's the photoshop, i also smoothed the boot lol!

Mine, which was Alex's (ghost) system prior to me

The cut is easy to do, just get someone with an experience of doing cuts, not some backstreet guy that did mine and did an awful job, MIJ salvaged the situation for me

Be aware though, dont do a massive hole, try and get as small and neat as possible. You will cut into the bumper hanger if not, mine is cut slightly into the hanger, so its about the max size you can have. The bumper may become loose if you cut too far into the hanger/stays and it may be new bumper time if that occurs

Also the extra pipe adds weight, some people care about that sort of thing.

The system your suggesting has been done on cento's before, so yes it could be done, you've just got to find someone willing to do the work. I've seen on alot of car's fake pipe's before and that looks strange and seems pointless to me, swapping tail pipes after a few hundred miles so they're both black and tarnished lol. Theres the cinq example i have saved (if its a photoshop then fair play, i havnt a clue)

I made a dual exit system for my punto when i had it and like the cinq's it interfered with a bumper bracket so i utilised the bracket and made it into an extra exhaust hanger too.

So its possible, and depending on where you choose to have it made, a nice system too, I like your design, always liked twin exit systems the best (y)

Thanks for the replies, and the pictures, some great examples there :D !!

As for making the car slower, it's only nippy round town and corners anyways, get it on a long stretch of road and it's so slow :( So probs wouldn't make any difference..

Yes, seems quite a nice idea and i was really thinking of going that route but fancied something different.

Novitec originally did a twin exit exhaust like the photoshopped one, which looked great, but retailed at about 320 euros just for the b/b to my knowlege. However, they discontinued this.

If you would like to do it now, would have to be a powerflow/longlife job or similiar, but if you do go with them, make sure the fitters are reputable as i've heard of some very funny fitters and bodge jobs. Materials from them are good though to my knowlege and stainless steel bits are top notch.

If a bad bodge is made of the cutting of the bumper, filling or fibre glass could surely be used with a quick spray and with a bit of time the damage repaired.

Whatever, good luck with it! Its certainly a way of standing out from the easy larger single exit exhaust 95% of people seem to go for. Although with the ease of fitment I can see why people do this.

Perhaps the real trick would be to replicate the flare on the bumper's original exhaust exit on the other side.

For reasons of adhesion, you might be better starting off with a glass fibre bumper rather than the funny plastic one. Something I love to use for delicate work is an epoxy putty called Milliput (find it in craft shops) which you can work with water before it goes off: much better for subtle stuff than polyester fillers.
