Latest issue, just out. A trip to North Wales for the Evo team together with some pocket sized funsters:

Abarth 500
Panda 100HP
Colt turbo thing
New Fester + Montune (sp?) mods (+20hp)
Twingo Renaultsport
Suzuki Swift

Abarth, Colt and Fester ruled out first. Top 3 discussed - Panda 3rd, Swift 2nd, Twingo 1st.

Excellent read - includes a small story about the 100HP keeping a TT V6 honest. Also a great pic of the 100HP on 1.5 wheels (2 left wheels off ground, right rear not doing much). They loved the honesty and laughs the 100HP gives.

Agree, a great article. But read again carefully, it's the Colt that keeps the TT at bay

They certainly seem to enjoy the Panda. The best bit is that all of the other cars cost £thousands more (especially the discounted prices), I think they all have thirstier engines, and they are all in higher insurance groups. It's quite supprising how the 100HP can compete with much more expensive cars. I remember when I ordered my Panda that a 1.5 Suzuki Swift (not the 1.6 'Sport' one) would cost me at least £1000 more than a 100HP, but the boot opening was too small for me anyway.

..the boot opening was too small for me anyway.

Why were you trying to get into the boot?

I looked at the swift too but the prices just don't compare, and it lacked the appeal and character of the 100hp in the end.

I used to buy Evo every month without fail but when half the team left to create Drivers Republic the mag went downhill, now I just check articles a month late on the Evo website..

Ding - finally got 'round cancelling my subscription last month. I especially can't stand David Vivian. There's something about his style that really rubs me up the wrong way. I'll start reading an article, get to some stuttering, disconnected sentence structure and think, "What the hell's this?". When I turn back to the beginning I always find it's one of Vivian's. (n) Just not my cup of tea.

Catchpole's good but even he can't carry the whole mag.

I'll miss the photography though :worship:

(Sorry, end of thread hijack)

I think Evo is great, this month's issue has some great articles. I just subscribed to Performance Car too, it is not as good but I thought I'd give it a go and cancel if it doesn't differentiate from Evo.

I cancelled my subscription to Top Gear, which has become unreadable due to the stupid arty style they have adopted (literally). Its a bit like a monthly version of AutoCAR now too.

I don't mind him, but I know what you mean. One of the inspirations for Troy Queef? :)

I don't really like Evo either, but when it says good things about a 100HP then I've got to buy it haven't I? There are far too many words for me, I could only skim through the story, reading the whole thing would be too much for me.

I'm the same, not a regular buyer but if the 100HP is featured in a magazine its got to be bought.

Absolutely - too many words makes it difficult to read in WHSmiths without drawing attention ;) I ended my Evo subscription about 5 years ago and now when I need a car mag for the plane I always pick up Top Gear :D
