General Erratic Idel problem

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can advise, my 1.2 16v Bravo (99) is idles between 2000 rpm and 4000 rpm, just goes up and down, as if im sitting there reving with anger and impatience!
Has anyone experienced this before before and would know what I need to do/buy to fix this? Is it the throttle body that needs replacing?
