Engine upgrade

Hi folks,

Quick question, would a 1.8 16v engine from a Fiat Brava fit straight into a 2001 fiat punto. Currently with a 1.2 8v engine.

I would imagine the 1.8 16v engine and gearbox + loom would go straight in?? would the drive shafts need changed or would the 1.8 16v fit straight without modifications. Basically I have a nice clean 2dr punto I am looking to play around with. I have considered the 1.6 16 valve also. Could any body advise me what they thinnk would be the easiest conversion?

the punto HGT has that same 1.8 engine so it iwll fit, but the HGT version has a variator on one camshaft to give better torque and power. if you want to do this conversion use the punto HGT engines and gearbox and shafts, or even better buy an HGT, it'll work out cheaper and you also get the better brakes, suspension, interior, bodykit etc plus the insurance will be cheaper.
