General engine tuning

i have a 53 reg punto mk3 1.2 8v. i want to tune engine up can i get a turbo and how much will that cost what else can i do. i want power out of the car.

There is a turbo available from novitec for a 1.2 8v I think, or it might be a super charger.

But it's about 3 grand I think, and it's gonna do your gear box no favours!! :S

You could start with an induction kit, or a BMC CDA, thats more of a realistic price

me got the bmc thats on now.

the punto is the project car. all money going in to the engine to make it fast

I know everyone says it, but you should have bought a bigger engine in the first place, yadda yadda.

Why not do a coup lump then?? Would give much better performance than a turbo 1.2 8v.

my mate said i should but the coupe 16v engine it, he says it will go in with very little work.

i will have a look around see what i can find.

you can mod the 8v to round 120 bhp without a turbo ends up faster than standard HGT

It has to be lighter, but is it really quicker?

Well, considering the Punto HGT engine is near enough the same as the Coupe 16v, it shouldn't be a problem but then add the turbo and you might have problems as the HGT is very limited for space under the bonnet

the 1242cc 8v and 1242cc 16v share the same block dont they. So mounting wont be a problem. Problem you will have is the ECU/loom etc will need changing when you do the swap iirc.

120bhp from an NA 1242 8v, wirly - you have pm, lol!
