General engine swaps

does anyone know if any of the Punto engines will fit into an uno?

like the 1.2 cento conversion. would a punto 60 engine be a good swap for the 999cc or the 1.1 uno?

saying that though, the 999cc Uno doesnt have an ECU like the punto/cento does so it probably wouldnt work with that. but how about the 1.1s... are they proper Injection?

When I look at the sporting the engine looks visually to be the same? It looks like it has the same Bosch monotronic injection?

i know mine didnt... well.. wasnt in the same place and looking at piccies of my uno engine.. i cant spot anything that looks like an ECU

but if it does, its good news

I know the engines are similar (infact there is only 2cc difference from the cinq 1.1 and the uno 1.1 (unless the website i read got it wrong))... but are the mounts the same etc.

I wanna buy a 999cc uno (one on ebay now ive got my eye on) and do a 1.2 conversion... but saying that... the engine bay is roughly the same as a punto size and so the 1.6 sporting engine would be nice

The ECU on mine was situation just above the accelerator pedal on mine and had a lead that came out for diagnostics (i suppose?).

All i mean is that visually the engines look the same in the most part although obviously not identical, I just mean the major components.

Why not just buy a 1.4 or so Uno?

Ive read that the Punto 60 engine is a straight swap as is the Tipo 1.6 engine. I dont think the Punto 1.6 sporting engine is that easy to fit as its MPi i think (isnt it???)

1.4s are getting seriously rare now.

punto 60 is spi, 75 is mpi

yeah the 1.4s are really rare.. i wouldnt mind just dropping in a punto 60 and being happy!... i really want that broom yellow MK1 uno on ebay now... but i recon ital get expencive

Looks good tho that yellow one, that paint job mustve cost a fair bit!

I'll be selling mine in 6 months or so, mines ripe for an engine conversion! I feel like ive done enough to my Uno now so im waiting for my mums Punto!!
