Hey All,

Just a new post as I have just experienced something new.
This has happened twice now. Both times when in second gear (maybe coincidence) when turning around a corner (sub 20mph speeds) engine just dies.....power steering lost etc etc Then have to restart the engine, which takes a few more cranks before it starts again.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers

Tabletto :)

Ive had the same fault with my brava and ive been told its a faulty idle control valve , im not a mechanic though. Sorry i couldnt be of more help.

99 brava 100 sx

At last! somebody else with the same problem i have been having. please can you give me any info on cures as it,s driving me insane, even the garage does,nt believe me!

Dear All, My car used to do the same fault... I have A Brava 1400cc SX model, I was used to have it towed away almost every day... today the problem has almost faded away! My mechanic dismantled all the electrical connections and silicone lubricated each and every on of them. Today my mind is at rest, I can drive my brava without having the towing truck in front.

My friend who drives a <cough>saxo<cough> has had a similar problem. Idle valve too.

mine also has this problem, but do any of yours have difficulty starting, or does the car judder when the engine is cold?

i know this is threat was a couple of years ago..........but!

my fiat bravo used to do the same thing...mostly on roundabouts in 2nd....

we contacted fiat about this and the car was recalled. along with hundreds of others. it was a design fault....its never done it since!!!!!!

they may not be offering this recall anymore but check with fiat...mention about other cars being recalled with same prob..

dont give in to push-offs, its a design fault. and could cause death!!!!!!!

Check your air filter, ignition leads, plugs, clean the idle valve and reset the ECU. Expect a nose dive in mpg while it re learns the best settings but after that stalling out of the blue should be gone

If it never ticks over properly then that's different but if it just loves dying at the worst moment like low revs- steering- entering a corner then that'll often be your answer
