Technical engine running fairly hot..?

Hi all
I'm not sure if this is actually a problem at all,but my temperature guage runs at halfway constantly during normal driving.It does'nt overheat at all and the fan does cut in when stationary for a few minutes,but I'm used to the temperature reading being only being at about 1/3rd of the way up on other cars I've owned recently under normal driving conditions..
Is this potentially a problem?Would the recent hottish weather have any effect..?

I saw mines sitting at just over 1/4 tonight, maybe near 1/3rd when shooting along the motorway, did have the heater on though so maybe that effected the reading. but never went up to just below the half until end of the motorway and onto some slower roads
