Alrite a few weeks ago our car was going into the mechanics to get new back bushes on (£180, but thats another story). But a couple of weeks beforehand the engine light came on, we have got to the point where we just started to ignore it as it got quite repetative when nothing serious seemed wrong with the car. So we got them to check it out while it was in so they threw it on the 'computer reader'. He said that it was reading that there was something up with the MAP sensor, but they managed to get it turned off and he said it could have rectified itself. But it came on a couple of days ago when we started her up so Im guessing its the same thing. Anyone know if i have to part with £120 (which Fiat apparantly want) or could I pick one up and get a mechanic friend to fit it? We are wanting to sell it after the MOT next month and dont want 'engine fault' to be on when we sell it...
The mechanic who done the back bushes didnt seem to think it was a big deal..is it? Its driving grand...

its a 2005 1.6 stilo dynamic by the way...

If it IS the MAP sensor that needs to be changed then they're around £50 from Shop4parts and a 2 minute job even for the dimmest person to change. But I'd check your fault codes again first and see if it is the MAP sensor coming up

yea thats what i was thinking. might bring it back to that guy and get him to put it on the Reader again. If so, Ill order one of those and get a guy we know to fit it, I dont wanna get involved.
BTW, we had some fluid problems such as Water/Coolant going low quick, etc, we got it sorted with a bottle of some stuff to patch up any little holes, etc , could that have been a cause?

If it says "Engine fault" then it doesn't lie to you but no one can guess what that fault might be. Reading your Fault Codes though could put you on the right track

It could also lead you astray in that you could have a P0105 MAP sensor circuit code stored from a long while ago and the Engine Fault could be for something different
