Engine/gearbox match

I was hoping someone could help with a query.....my neighbour has a Westfield with an old 8v twincam engine and gearbox from a 131 Mirafiori fitted. He is now looking to change it for something more pokey and I'm trying to persuade him to buy a local 16v turbo engine from a Coupe. The question is, will it still mount straight onto the Mirafiori gearbox? I am of the belief the engine had the same bottom end with a different head. I believe the Coupe is an early one from 1995.
