hi new to the forums, im anthony, just wondering if anyone knows how hard it is and how costly it would be to drop a 1.4 gt turbo into a 2001 model 1.2 8v punto???and were i could get everything nessacery?? anyone know of any decent engine conversion specialist in the north east or any decent mechcnics with a good idea on what theyre doing? cheers anth

finding a good well maintained low mileage gt engine would be hard to find/ exspensive to put right, also it costs a lot to put it in a mk2 coz you gotta change wiring loom, fit everything in, uprate brakes, suspension make custom engine mounts, not worth it. its been done, better of buying a gt in the first place

its gonna cost you even more to insure an engine swap, like jim mentioned.

oh... but wait... you dont plan on insuring it as a 1.4T do you? well duh

have more sense. the cost of getting caught is too much (and it does happen)

aside from all that, its an old unreliable engine to be putting in a car that was never designed for it. You would be better putting the 130bhp 1.8 HGT engine in, since all you would need is a donor car it would be a straight swap.

Much better selling the 8v and buying a sporting and making do... or something different altogether.

yeah its a good point, but i want a turbo car though, don't ask why i just do haha, the cost is not the problem its just finding a good decent donor car to transfer ?? were would be the best place to get an engine wiring loom etc??

no insurance.... no help. ;)

sell the punto and buy a glanza GTT, far cheaper to run and insure, faster, they just dont look as good.

considering that to pay someone to do a full engine swap is gonna cost the best part of 3 grand.
