Technical engine control system failure

hi

on way to work this morning had this warning appear along with the car running very erratically as if misfiring. i had just left a roundabout on a dual carriageway and was accelerating when it happened.

does anyone have any suggestions before i take it to the dealer who will probably want to do a diagnostic check and charge me a fortune to tell me something stupid like the plugs have gone!

any help will be muchly appreciated!!

Could be anything from a coil to an injector and half an hour on an examiner will help to solve the problem quicker for you

took the stilo to the dealer today and they've just phoned to say that it is a coil that is faulty. is this normal for under 29k on a 52plate?

all in though including the diagnostic check is #135pounds so not too bad, providing it solves the problem!!
