Technical ELM327 Bluetooth unit that works

I have a 2000 1.2 8v and am having some issues, I want to be able to monitor it on the move but my laptop has a buggered battery so thought I could use a bluetooth device with my Android phone.

I had ordered a elm327 V1.4 unit but it will not connect to any apps also a OBD scanner app says it is v2.5 elm.

Can I get advise on which one off ebay will work please there are so many to choose from it could take some time which I dont have

Removing the resistor worked for me.

I thought that was just to get at other modules and that engine should work out of the box.

Is not not correct will it not connect to ecu with that resistor issue.

Correct. In my case anyway the interface worked out of the box accessing the engine module. Only after we paid for the others, SRS, EPS, it wouldn't communicate. I don't recall what the firmware was on it and it's at the other end of the country atm. There are some old threads here about port assignment and other stuff. I'll have a rummage.

So the one I have received does not connect to the ecu out of the box.

Which one did you get is it still available on ebay?

Hi,
I've used a white one labeled "pro-scan" that connects OK. I would say that the phone apps can be limted in functionality and some give wrong results with Fiats so take care.

What unit did you buy (ebay link) and what apps are you using?

I had a black one which was Pro-scan- link OBD. I think it is a faulty unit as I tried my mates cheap Chinese one and it worked perfectly with AlfaOBD first time!
