Has anybody had any experience with these guys? I got a quote for my 1.8 Bravo for £451 fully comp and I'm 23 with 2 years no claims. This just seems absurdedly cheap (got quoted on a Focus RS for £720!). Consequently, although I was raving about chopping the car in for something faster, my friends think I shouldn't touch them with a bargepole as everybody else is twice as expensive.
Opinions appreciated. Cheers.

im 21 and got a bravo 1.8 and im £430 fully comp with AXA. i got a quote from elephant and it was £700!!

Hi,

That is very good, you should phone them up and ask them to tell you about the policy and what it covers. Do you have any mods on your car? Thats maybe why its low, because they dont insure "performance" vehicles.

John

yea i have found that they are really cheap, I got a decent quote on a focus rs which has meant that I'm now saving for one when I am 21.

what could be wrong with them, my mate uses them and has no problems.

whats the point in paying more when you can pasy less

Re: Re: elephant.co.uk

Cheers for the reply John. Funny you should ask about mods, cos I thought if it's that cheap, and being a student can't really afford a new car might as well see how muh they would want if it was modded (standard at mo). Was only £491 with 57i, 10% ecu chip, and full system exhaust. Will call them to check what's covered tho, suppose I assumed would just be regular FC cover, but might be a clause in there somewhere!!

Re: Re: elephant.co.uk

yeah got a few mods, think its maybe cos ive been with them since i passed my test.
had a nissan 100 before the bravo which was a group 11 and that was only £600 fully comp.
ive tried a few other insurers and they are all about £700, so im not complaining!

Re: Re: elephant.co.uk

I'm with elephant, £560 with alloys and a spoiler added. I'm 25 with a years NCB.

When I first went to them with a 1.8 MK2 Golf they were about £600 cheaper than direct line!!!!

Re: Re: Re: elephant.co.uk

Hi,

Well I just done an elephant.co.uk quote on my standard 1.4sx it was £1874.95 nearly £1000 more than what i am paying at the moment. So i thought what the heck, ill wack some mods on:

Alloys
Side skirts
Rear + Front extension
Spoiler

£2284!

Well i dunno, thats ****.

Re: Re: Re: Re: elephant.co.uk

dont forget that Elephant are the internet version of Admiral - and therefore their customer support people need taking out the backdoor and shot in the streets of Delhi after 5pm and Swansea during UK office hours. The most incompetant insurance company this side of Quotline Direct!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: elephant.co.uk

Get with the BOO

Just had a quote from Chris Knott Insurance (0800 917 2274 http://www.ckinsurance.co.uk/fiat.htm) with my BOO membership and its £60 cheaper than Direct Line & £20 cheaper than RAC (as a member).
So my £10 BOO membership fee is paid for right away, and i have the rest of the club benefits to look forward too for FREE.

Re: Re: Get with the BOO

they just quoted me £3800 for a hgt at 21 with one claim in 2000. I think i will stick with the sx and endsleigh and £880!

Re: Re: Re: Get with the BOO

Chris Knott are the same as any other insurance company to be fair, its all down to the individual. Tesco are cheapest for me - Quotline are cheapest for someone else.

They were £100 more expensive for the HGT and £100 cheaper for the Barchetta!

Just to add some more positive feedback, i'm with elephant and they were much cheaper for me too. I even found that adding my girlfriend on as a named driver cut the cost of insurance by £200 a year!!!!!

On the down side i'm persuing a claim with them at the minute and they're taking there time, but i'm not too bothered. I'd prefer to save money anytime.

I think elephant are great

My insurance this year is £495:

Fiat Bravo 1.4 SX
Age: 25
1 Year no claims (I had a non-fault accident two years ago which I had to pay for because the person had no insurance!!)
Job: Management Consultant
GU25 post code
No points
Alloy wheels
