Does anyone know where I can source a EGR valve, other than Fiat dealers? Thanks.

Double-check first, but if it's the 16v diesel it should be the same as one for a Vauxhall with the Z19DTH engine. Search ebay (include description) for "Z19DTH EGR" and you should find loads.

As I said though, double-check it is the same - there are some subtle differences. There's also an equivalent Vauxhall code for the 8v, but not the 5-cylinder diesel (although the EGR may still be the same).

My 2.4 uses the same EGR as the 1.9 16V. Better to buy genuine Pierburg, rather than imitation. I believe the vauhall ones are Pierburg.

What, you mean you want one as reliable as the original one?

When I replaced my alternator, I made a point of getting any make other than the original one.

I think the EGR valve has been revised a few times since the original one though. In an ideal world this would mean Fiat know they're crap, so they should send an apology letter to every owner, with a voucher for a new one. No such luck though.

Well here is waht I have in my personal technical notes file. This info took quite some time to research (as always) so I make detailed notes where I can.

isn't the new 3 hole plate supposed to make them more reliable?

I fitted one of the three hole swirl / bullet gaskets and it's transformed my car. I took the egr out and gave it a good clean at the same time and the car drives better now than it did when it was new (it always had a touch of the kangaroo diesel at around 2K revs). It's never thrown on a warning light (except when it was blanked off completely as part of the diagnostic to isolate the EGR after the main dealer had thrown their hands up and admitted defeat) and sailed through its most recent MOT.
