Technical EGR blanking???

Hi

I have an issue when starting my 2008 ducato 3.0 multijet. It starts on the 2nd attemp most times but take an extra crank or so to start.

I am work throught all the common solutions throttle body clean and will be getting replaced as well as the map sensor.

My question is the erg be blanked off. Will this cause me any issues or is it a beneficial thing to do??
