I have recently bough a Fiat Brava 1.6sx (P Reg)which was was front damaged. I've had it repaired now but the engine dosn't start anymore. I've found out it's due to the Ecu unit, i don't have the purple key to put all the codes back in, only the normal key and the engine does not start. I'm looking at £600 + vat at the Fiat dealers for a new ecu unit inc lock set but thats abit expensive. Can anyone advise me on what to do?

If you look back through the forum you will find that there is not much you can do. However, it has been posted that you don't need to buy a new ECU from Fiat, but that you can get a refurbished/exchange unit from Lucas. I havn't tried to get one, so I can't say if its true or not. There are also some instructions on how to fit the kit yourself back in the forum, if you are feeling brave! Look for discussions on keys, or red keys.

ECU and Keys

The fiat code is stored in the keys. if you do not have them, than re-configure it manually using the codes given in a card form. Read the fiat user manual for instructions.
