Do I need to use 98 Ron petrol (E5 - 5% ethanol) in my 1996 1600 90 ELX cabrio? Or is it safe to use 95 Ron (10% ethanol here in the Netherland)?

Most countries have official government websites addressing this problem. Go and search!

Example UK: https://check-vehicle-compatibility-e10-petrol.service.gov.uk/en/manufacturer/Fiat
So 1,6 L petrol should NOT run on E10.
It's based on ACEA report: https://www.acea.auto/files/E10_petrol_fuel-vehicle_compatibility_list-2021_update.pdf

Example Poland: https://e10.klimat.gov.pl/ - same result, DON'T tank E10.

You can run some E10, but the fuel system will deteriorate faster, that's it. In such old car it is worn already.
So you will fix it (like a fuel pump replacement, "rotten" hoses, cracked seals/o-rings) soon or later anyway...

Thanks. 30 cents a litre more expensive here but hey, I get to drive a cool car.
