Technical Ducato x250 2.3 multijet Towbar Connections

Hi,

Is anyone experienced in connecting up towbar electrics to a ducato van.
I've installed the towbar, got a relay to connect to, but how do you connect it to the van's electrics?
The reason i ask, it's that i seen that that you cant directly connect into the wiring harness, as it causes the dashboard lights to malfunction, due to the canbus system.

Any help would be appreciated.

it's pretty comprehensive and explains the problem and how to solve it.

The best option is to use a plug and play harness that plugs into the connections of the rear light units and usually a connection to the fuse box. These are quite expensive and vehicle specific but a lot better than using scotch locks on a canbus system.
