It could be done as the access to the back of the engine & turbo from under the vehicle is reasonable. Probably not too good for the "old back" though. But would certainly be easier than removing the complete engine from the vehicle.

If the turbo location is the same place as the JTD common rail, It think you would need an inspection pit or hydraulic vehicle lift to do the job with the engine in situ.

Hi Guys,
I've done it with the van parked in the drive in about 2hrs. It's only a handfull of nuts and a couple of jubilee clips but you are lying on your back, arms in the air working mainly by feel as visibility is negligable. It's an absolute pain but can be done.
