Hello dear fiat users!

I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 2017 Ducato 2.3 multijet 130 euro 6 twin egr(no AdBlue) from an auction. Been daily driving it for the past 4 weeks and I've been loving it. Such a great handling van with so much power.

The car functions very well and drives normally, but there is one thing in particular that is not right. I've tried calling different "Ducato specialists" and tried to find answers online, but all issues are a little different than this one and no one knows the answer.

After shutting off the car/engine, the fan turns on and keeps going for around 3 to 5 minutes. Even starting the car when it's 4°C outside and shutting it down after 1 minute, the fan starts spinning directly. There is no check engine light, nor error codes in MES.
I've spent every evening trying to find the problem, but still no clue.

I noticed some weird things:
-The glowplug light always goes on for only 2 seoncs. Doesn't matter if it's 3°C or 24°C outside. But if I start the engine directly after the glow plug light turns off during cold mornings, the engine won't run and just keeps dying. But if I wait 5/7 seconds longer after the light turns off, it runs fine. In the manual I read that you should start the engine immediately after the lights turn off, but that doesn't work here.
-ive checked every connection and cable under the bonnet, checked all the pins etc. After a couple hours, I noticed a lose connector of the back of the engine! Turns out it's the plug that connects to the low pressure egr! But how is it possible that it was disconnected and it didn't show any errors?
-The DPF regeneration started 3 times already. First time was driving home after i bought it, with the LPEGR still disconnected. The others were after connecting the cable. The regenerations never finished though. I was driving for hours. One time I even drove for 4 hours in all gears, all kinds of rpm, and it still never finished.
-Reading parameters in MES is all fine and every sensor shows correct data. But when I click on parameters about dpf, like average temperature of regenerations etc, the program doesn't give any value.
-Testing the HPEGR gives as a result: OK
-Testing the LPEGR gives a result: EGR is blocked

Does anyone know where to begin and how this is possible?
0 errors on the dash.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,it’s possible a previous owner has programmed a lpegr delete on the ecm. This would explain why no fault codes appear with lpegr unplugged.

That would be the best explanation, but from what I read it is not possible to do an egr delete on the low pressure egr on this engine. So I don't know what mechanic/magician did this, but it works i guess? Still don't know how to fix the fan issue and what the problem can be.

First, welcome to the forum from both myself and @theoneandonly , we both own twin EGR / no Adblue Ducatos, we are both key players on the post on here 'p0401.....what do i check next' which is running at 46 pages, it's a must read for you.
I've just helped another owner who did have the dash mil light on. I connected Multiecuscan and couldn't get many of the parameter readings, i could get readings from the hp or lp systems
His DPF was rather full but not blocked, he reported the fan 'on' also.
His problem was the harness/ sender wiring at the top of the engine, just to the left side of the vacuum black box. (Left as you are standing looking at the engine).
Vibration had caused the wires to fret against each other and wear down exposing bare wires, then it caused intermittent shorts of the low voltage supply from the ECU which is how it knocked out other readings. A quick PVC tape of the bare wires solved the problem. It was the wires going to the second DPF sensors (as you look down) it's the pre cat exhaust temp sensor. I now await him coming for another Multiecuscan data run so we can check the DPF.
Separately my local garage has taken weeks to solve another same Ducato which wasn't regenning properly, he's just replaced this same sensor, problems gone...
We are aware that fault codes are only written in the software for some components which is why you have to sit back and think....
My guess is you start by looking at the wiring for shorts / breaks. Then use Multiecuscan to check for your software issue number, it ought to be 28 or 32, then drive and do a data run to watch both EGRs opening and closing and regulating the LP EGR temperature. All the details is in the 46 page post. Theoneandonly will help you with a parameter check list.

@Mbackiel
Once you have Multiecuscan up and running we can guide you through some tests.
