Technical Ducato 14 side door problem - not opening

Last week I shut the side door on my Ducato and heard a strange noise and since then the top left corner does not release and I am unable to open the door. I have tried to locate a diagram of the door lock or a guide to release the top rear latch so that I can repair it but am having difficulty finding anything. Any help would be great. Please help.

Common problem, on my vans anyway! Get inside the van, unlock the door, try and open it, then hit the top left corner of the door about 8inches from the top with the heel of your hand,may take a couple of attempts but the door should open. The catch on the door locates to a pin on the door frame, sometimes when you close the door too quickly the catch will close under the pin causing the door to get stuck.

Hi Torq,

I did get the door open once... It was as you suggested , that the catch was under the pin. With some gentle persuasion I was able to get the door open, and get it to close properly with the pin and catch together. But, now the door will not open at all. I believe that the rod that operates the catch is broken or loose. I think that this one will need a trip to the Fiat shop.
