If you get challenged by any coppers over anything then dont back down. Remember they are french and will give up first.

Watch it in Belgium. They built a set of new police 'processing' stations besides the motorways that we commonly use to pass through the country. If you are even 2kph over the limit a nice man on a motorbike with a blue flashing light will escort you straight to one of these and relieve you of 60 euros. And if you refuse to pay then there is a nice cell waiting for you and they make it very, very clear that processing you will take several hours. Not something you can consider when you have the family in the car waiting outside and lots of driving to do before the kids explode.

I was caught this way 2 years ago - my crime was doing 123kph in a 120kph limit (that's less than 2mph over!). This was just after the EU banned them from charging a toll on foreign cars passing through, oh and 100% of the cars parked there were British and Dutch. Go figure...

hi guys. struggling to find where to put headlight adjusters on my lens. anybody know where about in handbook i can find the information or even better somebody have a pic? cheers.

Be aware of the Priorite a droite rules, as above in built up areas but also on faster more rural roads, if you see a sign with a tilted cross in it it means that even though you are doing 50-60mph the car or truck at the next junction has the right to pull out. Just have a browse at some signs and try to recall them, could save a large accident.

When I was last there I didnt drop below 100 ish all the way down to Paris and I was still being passed fairly often. Remember that most toll boths in the 'touristy' routes coming down from Calais have lanes for RHD cars.

And if someones comes up behind you on the autoroute with their left indicator flashing, that means move out of the way!

Be aware of your fuel level too, sometimes there is quite a large gap between stations and if yours is anything like mine, its not the most frugal when the speed climbs!

it depends on which model headlight convertors you have, the handbook may only refer to Gen Fiat ones which are pretty damn expensive, I used the Halfords ones which come with a big fold out sheet of pretty much every type of headlight used, aim for half way down the headlight, just on the lengthways curve of the light. They arent hugely effective to be honest, so just turn the lights on, approximate where most of the left dipping glare comes out and stick them there.

the 1st time I took the GPS over I didnt mask the lights at all, I just dipped them right down and didnt have a problem, im not advocating that of course! Dont make too much of an effort especially with black tape, it helps to be able to see the road on those long unlit sections of AR lol

hey guys and girls. im driving through belgium and france next week and will need to either get those stickers for headlights or some other way of adjusting my beam. Anybody know where to get them and if you can think of anythin else i need for driving in europe your help will be appreciated (y)

cheers.

Dont bother, if they are french they deserve to be blinded:p

Was only a little light hearted banter :p

If you park facing a wall at night there are 2 adjusters on each light unit. You can twist these to change the height/level of the beam pattern so you could get rid of the raised bit on the left hand side so that you dont blind people.

i return 1,200 miles later, an average of 45.3 mpg for the whole trip, 4 tanks of petrol lighter, and with the smell of belgian waffles and french baguettes still fresh in my schnozz.

didnt use headlight adjusters in the end cos all of the driving i did was very early morning and they werent needed in the 28 degree sun lol. and driving on the right is nowhere near as bad as i imagined, apart from in paris, where everybody is mental, and some retard scooter rider scuffed my passenger door. DAMN THE FRENCH!

ha yeah, i got out of my house heading for dover, and my satnav decided to stop working, then our camera broke, it was a disaster. so we didnt mean to drive right into paris, but because we had no satnav we kind of had to just find things ourselves on those crazy roads! it got a bit stressful but was stil fun!
