Hi
I´m stuffing a 5 speed box (from a 903 MKII 127), into my MKI 127.
I need to find driveshafts for this box.
The old ones are smaller in diameter.
Anyone know what fits ??
I´ve heard that shafts from a standard 4 speed 1050 should be the same.
Anyone know if its true :)
Best regards
Niels

I'm not sure of specifics as we never had five speed 127's in Australia.

I'm assuming when you say driveshafts are smaller, that you mean the "tripode" joint that slides into the gearbox?

If this is what you mean, then Fiat has basically three sizes of tripode.

The smallest being the 127, next size up is 128, next size up again is regata/ritmo. Difference in size is in the bearing.

All three use the same sized internal spline, but are different thicknesses, so you might have trouble refitting the circlip, but it should be obvious when you have the parts.

I would gues that Fiat used the 128 tripode in the larger engined 127's

Thanks (y)
You've just made my day.
If I understand this correct, I'll be able to just replace the Tripods, and keep my old shafts and seals.
Like everyone else I'm running a tight budget

I thought only the MK3 1050 super and 1300GT had 5 speed boxes, not the 903s? The MK3 127s ,(1982-1984 big bumper models) had bigger tripods but the diameter of the driveshafts was also larger,so you will need them and you would also need the front hubs from a MK 3 as well.

Hi
In Denmark we got some 903 with 5 speed boxes.
Or it is posssible to use one from a Fiat Panda, those also came with a 903 and 5 speed.
Some years ago I was given a Panda with a faulty 5 speed.
I remember changing it with a 4 speed.
The tripods and the shafts were smaller, but the hubs were the same.
If the splines are the same on all shafts, I'll be able to reuse my 4 speed shafts and the seals :)
