General Drivers Seat

Hi i'm new on the forum, just aquired a punto, my problem is when I got the car there is a problem with the drivers seat as I lever the seat higher it tilts to one side and twists. I have the part which has come off from under the seat. sort of a thick iron tube then goes thinner half way i'm presuming its some sort of shock obsorber possibly, my question is is it going to be difficult fixing this. The part appears to be in ne piece no breakages or anything, any help/advice would be great before I take out the seat, cheers

Change the seat for a decent one from a scrappies, I know interior matching may be an issue but IMO its the best and most cost effective way.

Thanks for the reply yer I took the seat off and seems a bar across the front needs to be welded back on as it fell of when removing the seat lol so i'll have to look round for another seat.. sigh
