Technical Driver's seat belt failure

Help please! The driver's seatbelt clip on our 500x has failed with the red button stuck in. The belt strap no longer clicks in. The consequence of this is that the handbrake doesn't disengage and the car is undrivable. Any thoughts? Can the handbrake link to the seatbelt be switched off?

The handbrake will disengage if you put your foot on the foot brake first.

As said before... put foot on brake and either handbrake will release if set on auto or just press button to release. You will still have seat belt warning chime ringing though!

Thanks! Tried this, you have to have your foot on the footbrake AND depress the handbrake button to release handbrake. Now driving car with seatbelt clicked into passenger side.
