Technical Door Lock Barrel Removal

I eventually managed to remove the broken door handle, but the replacement need the original lock transferred over. Any hints or helpful links that will show me how to remove the lock from the old handle and put it into the new one please.

We have just had to do this and were in a panic as couldn't get the barrel out of the broken handle. Turns out you have to break it out of the broken handle by prising off the black plastic around it (which broke). Once the barrel came free its just a push fit into the new handle and clicks into place.

You don’t have to break it there’s a little circlip that comes out and with the key in the lock it just pushes out.
