Technical Door Contents Removal

Hi people,

I was wondering has any removed and refitted the whole contents of a cinq door, i.e window, window motor, runners etc. With some help form brian we removed the window fine but did not go any further than that. I am thinking about doing this and was wondering if anyone has done this at all.

Honestly hand on heart mate it is a piece of ****. You need a pozi driver and a 10mm socket. If you want the window motors out you need to remove the piece of plastic at the bottom of the door as it hides a 10mm bolt that holds the runner straight. Need a bit of nudging to get them out and in but nothing like as bad as the new polo. Window easy as you know and central locking a piece of **** too

Coudl you tell me a hbit more about how u remove the central locking and the motors then please.

The central locking motor/actuator is held in place with two self tappers. The metal bar that runs to the handle and lock etc are just held to the lock with plastic clips. You spin them off the bar 90 degrees and the the bar pulls out of the hole you will see this when you look at it.
The part that locks the door to the body is also held on with three pozi screws aswell i think. I have worked as an auto electrictian now for 5 years and the cinq doors arre by far the easiest i have EVER worked on

I just found this thread using the 'search' function, and I think it's exactly where I need to be!

My Cinq was broken into the other day, by forcing open the top part of the drivers door, therefore leaving me with a nice big gap between the door and the roof! The only thing that was taken was an old cd player which fails to work half the time! The £100+ set of speakers, amp and jump leads were totally untouched!

However, back to the door...

I have a silver bog-standard Cinq S with manual windows/locks.

As the lock/handle wasn't harmed, I thought I might as well get a 2nd hand door from the local dismantlers.

I ended up with a RED door with ELECTRIC windows and CENTRAL LOCKING for £25!

So far I have stripped the new door as far as removing the handles, door cards, storage compartment, electrics wiring, and door hinge bolts (the door was grinded away from the wrecked car!).

I am at the point where I need to remove the electric window regulator and the central locking actuator thingy. I believe from reading above, and referring to my Haynes manual, that this should be quite straight forward.

Before I start gettting carried away, am i correct in thinking I can just replace these electrical gizmo's with my elbow-grease manual components from my damaged door?

cinq electric windows are so crap lol they go down fine but make such an effort going up.

The only thing I am a bit wary of, is moving the electric window up and down so to line-up the bolts securing the window to the sliders. Is there any sort of manual override on the regulator? (Obviously I dont have any power going to the door)

I had to do this the other day cos i removed the slider bolts for the repaint. best thing to do it use an old battery (or even a charger) with some speaker wire. just toutch the wires into the motor connector.

mmm.. interesting idea!

so if i connect speaker wires to the contacts of an old car battery (i have one knocking around), and the other ends to the connector (where i unplugged the electric cable), that should work? How do i determine wether the window goes up or down?!

just stap the wires around. the cinq does not have a regulator... its just a switch and a motor. so if the switch stuck the motor would burn out :O

Ok, I'm stuck!

I've successfully removed the window mechanism from the 'electric' door, and have stripped the mechanical door as far as removing the mechanical mechanism,

'Mr Haynes' simply says... remove the 4 bolts securing the regulator to the door, and 'manipulate' the regulator assembly through the rear door arperture.

How on earth is this done! Somebody please give me a clue! Which part of the assembly comes through the hole first?!

Managed it! A little awkward, but came in the end.

Now to put everything back together again!
